The house is within walking distance of the sandy beaches in Ryde, the promenade and a variety of activities and entertainment for everyone. Known as the Gateway to the Island, Ryde has excellent transport links to rail, bus and ferry passengers, meaning you can leave the car behind.

The property can accommodate up to six guests in three double bedrooms, one of which is en-suite. Each bedroom has been uniquely styled and decorated in a contemporary theme.

There is plenty of comfortable living space in the main reception room and additional seating in the conservatory which looks out onto the well-presented and tidy garden. Parking is available in the garage to the rear of the property, accessed at the rear via St Georges Close. Additional free parking is available on the street, but this is limited.

This beautifully furnished and well-equipped holiday home makes a great base for exploring the Island and is few moments from Ryde's high street with its host of independent shops, bars, restaurants and cafes.

The long sandy beaches along Ryde seafront are ideal for bathing and at low tide the expansive sandy beach stretches out a considerable distance making it a popular place for swimming and paddling in the shallow water in the warmer weather, as well as sports and outdoor activities both on and off the beach.


The house is only a few steps from the main high street in Ryde, and you can see the sea from the top bedrooms. A short walk down the hill will bring you onto the popular seafront at Ryde, with miles of sandy beach, restaurants, bars and amusements. Ryde has a great deal of independent shops, and far more than you’ll find on most modern high streets. On the Hilly high street, you’ll also find a great selection of Restaurants and Cafes. There is also a large Co-op around the corner for all your essentials.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week’s stay at Barfield Lodge. It is an elegant and spacious home, immaculately presented with ample space for our group of two couples and a teenager. The owners have clearly gone to a great deal of trouble to provide what is required for a comfortable stay. It’s worth noting that there is a large and modern Co-op less than 5 minutes walk away which is extremely useful. The garage is also indispensable as parking is very limited - only once during our week was there a space on Barfield itself and that only for a couple of hours. The garage access is somewhat awkward and tight for our medium sized family saloon but with perseverance we were able to get the car in and out. All in all a superbly presented and very well situated house, we hope to return again next year.
